Need to reencode to view in slow computer |

What encoder will allow me to reencode from divx to divx, so that I can
lower the bitrate and view the file in a slower computer (Pentium III
550 Mhz)? And perhaps also from xvid to xvid?
If it could reencode from divx to mpeg it would also be ok.

VDub, divx/xvid to divx/xvid by re-encoding.
Any VDub will probably do, but here's the home page for
VDub-MPEG2 + AC3 decoder http://fcchandler.home.comcast.net/
Quality loss by this method will be much more dramatic than in
the original conversion.
AVI (using an MPEG4 or the like encoding) to DVD (VOBs being
MPEG2) use VSO-Divx2DVD. This is, at the moment, freeware.

There are absolutely no encoding options with this software, it
does what it thinks it should ;-0)
