Two copies from DVD Shrink? |
|
|
Hi There
I have found DVD shrink an excellent program for making copies of my
DVDs, but occassionally I need to make 2 copies - as this takes quite a
while I was wondering there is any way DVD Shrink can be set to make 2
copies without going through the whole rigamarole.

The DVD Shrink rip is to your hard drive where you can then burn as many
copies as you wish. |

Thanks Tom - but how do I do that? Which files do I select etc - do I do it
in Shrink or another application?

use the open files from the menu instead of open disk.
point it at the files you want to burn. works just like having
a dvd in the drive but much faster.

Thanks Jim - I sort of thought that might be the case, but the temp folder
that Shrink uses ends up with some 20 odd files - how do I know which ones
to use?

Assuming that you started with an empty folder, you burn all of the files
in that folder to your DVD. My temp folder has 27 files now from my last
DVD copy. DVD Shrink only does the ripping. It does not have any burning
capability, but if you have Nero installed, it can automatically invoke
Nero for the burning. I love doing it this way - I place the original DVD
in my DVD ROM drive, a blank DVD in my burner, start the rip, and return to
find the completed copy. |

Can I use DVD Shrink to rip files to a folder and
then use Roxio to burn those files to a DVD-R.
(For soem reason Nero does not work properly on my PC).
Question is what if the files are more than 4.7 GB? |

if all the files are from the dvd then you will burn them all to create the
disk.
You may want to in the future use a dedicated folder.

when you open the folder it should see the files as a dvd, you will have to
create a second folder to burn to disk.

Yes, you can rip with DVD Shrink and burn with Roxio.
Also, the whole point of using DVD Shrink is to compress the
data to less than 4.7GB (or 8.5GB for dual layered blanks).

Well Tom, that is what I do too - and it works nicely. It is just when I want
to make more than one copy I thought there might be a way to speed up the
process rather than letting Shrink go through the whole routine again

Well Biz, I did that before I posted my question, but somehow I couldn't find
the bit where it tells you how to set Shrink to make more than one copy - but
thanks for the thought anyway
Any other ideas?

DVD Shrink, whether or not you use it to burn (with Nero) creates its file
structure on the hard drive in the 'target folder for output files'
indicated when you click 'backup'. The simplest plan is to create a new
folder, with the title of the disc, each time. You will then have all the
relevant files, each in an easily identifiable folder, available to create
new discs with Nero (or other burning app.) as many times as you like,
without having to reprocess each time.
