I have many DVDs with TV series, usually 6 episodes per disk. I'd like to
rip these and encode them to 6 different files. Is there any way to automate
this process?

Dr. Divx probably could do this, you can set it up to encode 6 different
files and go to bed.

But how do you know what the files are? Would something like DVD Decryptor
rip into 6 files?

That's an interesting idea. DVD Decryter is free too. It has many options
to choose from that might do this.

Take a look at this free excellent program:

http://www.snapfiles.com/get/chopperxp.html

I love it.

Or use DVD Shrink to rip the DVDs. You can see & hear what
you're dealing with as you re-author by episode, trim unwanted
start/end bits while doing so, and create VOB sets that will be
numbered in the order which you decide.

Then apply your favorite batch processing VOB<->Divx conversion
program.
