when i investigated getting this, someone else reported to me similar
problems.
i have not gotten one yet, but have a lot of experience with
mitsubishi and jvc cable box controllers. with them, you have to make
sure that the ir emitter is properly positioned relative to the ir
sensor in the cable box. after the cleaning woman comes through, i
have to readjust them.
panasonic vcr cable box controllers do not use an ir emitter, they
just broadcast the ir signal and you have to guarantee a path to the
sensor yourself. when i had such a panasonic vcr i placed the cable
box on top of it, and it worked flawlessly.
