Hi ... I would appreciate your advice. I am looking to buy a DVD recorder
for myself. In addition to creating DVDs for my own use, I would like to
record American TV shows for friends in France and Switzerland.

Can someone recommend a DVD recorder that will accomplish this and somewhere
reliable in the US where I can order it. I don't have a DVD recorder on my
computer (yet!) but if I did, would there be a better (cheaper?) way of
copying/converting?

You don't need a dvd recorder that supports PAL. pretty much anyone
overseas can play NTSC burned dvds.
its us in America that need a special
dvd player that converts PAL to NTSC.
this isn't the case for folks overseas.
