Re: Functionality of DirecTv RCA DVR80 without tivo |

Can I record to my DVR80 without tivo? Can I pause or rewind live TV
without tivo?

No. The unit is DirecTV dependent. If you stop subscribing to DirecTV then
that device will no longer record anything. It's only got a recorder for
DirecTV satellite signals. It cannot, with or without a subscription (or
via hacking) record from cable or on-air signals. There's just not hardware
in there to do it. But since it's $99 and $5/month it's worth it.

to respond to tivo remote codes. Is this correct?

It's not an RCA VCR device. It's a Tivo device private labelled by RCA.
Thus it responds to Tivo remote codes.
