Need more help/advice hooking up new DVD player |
|

I have started a new thread--you can find the old one or ask me about
it
if you like.

so, you will need an RF modulator from RadShack. If not, you're all
set.

I did as the above suggests. It was as if I had done nothing.
I put a DVD in, but the TV and VCR operated as it did without any
DVD player. TV worked, VCR worked, but DVDs did not,
and the TV screen showed nothing when I pushed buttons on the
remote.
I used all 3 color coded cables that came with
the DVD player. It was DVD audio/video out to VCR audio/video in.
I didn't see why 2 audio cables were used, but I plugged in all 3
anyway.
Since everything was color coded and labeled in/out and audio/video,
how could I go wrong?
Any comments on what may be going on are appreciated.

Was the VCR on? Also you may need to press the TV/Video (or TV/VCR)
button on the VCR remote. You may need to press a similar button on
the DVD remote. Even if the DVDs are copy protected you should still
be able to see the DVD menus and the DVD player's no-disc screen.

Did you change the input button on the VCR to L1? |

Make sure the VCR/TV button on the VCR is set to VCR and the VCR tuner |
is set to the AUX input or a use a switch or button on the VCR or VCR
remote to switch in the AUX input. Put the TV on the channel the VCR
plays through, normally VHF channel 3 or 4. You will likely
experience Macrovision effects however on most DVDs, so be prepared to
get an RF modulator.

That's what I thought--I should see the DVD menus at least.
I think you may have hit it here. I will try and get back to you.
Thanks.

No, didn't do this either. Thanks.
I had the VCR both off and on though.
