signal splitting is the way to go. there is essentially no degradation
in the output along the two lines. a pair of first quality stereo
audio cables with a piggy-back splitter is under $5 at any
electronics shop. you can probably even get them at radio shack fo
$10.
these cables consist of a hard rca-male-plug with both a cable out and a
rca female connection in which you can plug another rca male plug.
two of them make up a set. i have such all over my complicated
multiple device set-up: one cable hdtv box, one hdtv monitor, two vcrs,
two dvd players and an a/v receiver. i am thinking of adding a dvd
recorder such as the panasonic dmr-e85.
i want the audio output of any device to go straight to the a/v
receiver without passing through any intermediaries. the splitter
permit this.
