optimal xvid configuration? |
|
|
Hi
i'm trying my first steps in video encoding, using GKnot and following
doom9 directions.
Encoding in divx5 works perfectly.
However in xvid i get bad results.
First of all, the filesize was always wrong, and the bitrate too low,
drf values were going from 2 to 16 up and down with st dev of >10.
I checked 2nd pass xvid configuration, and there where gigantic
numbers in 2nd pass settings (eg 16248). Don't know how they got
there (I didn't touch them:)
So, I put in the values from doom9, but these settings are not in
their guide, but just in an example.
These new settings give the predicted file size, but the DRF values
are still too high with too much variation, especially because i use a
high bitrate & res in my testing purposes (1800kbit, 30b/pix).
Are there any directions for the right 2nd pass and quantizer values?
Isn't the codec supposed to find the optimal values itself after the
first pass?
thanks
Peter
