two subwoofers |
|
|
Anybody have an opionio? I have a receiver with one Sub out. I have
one powered subwoofer that I have used with it, but I am now building a
home theatre and would like to incorporate two subwoofers. I only have
one sub out. So, can I just use some sort of splitter that would allow
me to use two subwoofers? Anybody done anything like this?
Thanks

I am bi-amping my front speakers and don't use a dedicated sub. I use a y
splitter coming off the sub output from the home theater receiver, and that
supplies 2 channel input to my sub amp (an old JVC JR-S300 mark II)
From the sounds of it you will be running 2 different powered subwoofers ...
this will probably lead to some funky peaks and valleys in the bass region
depending on where you are seated in the room and where the subs are
located.
Why do you want the second sub?

IMO If one is to do this, placing the subs as close together as
physically possible will lessen any effects you're worried about.
But there is no definite answer being that there are oodles of variables
involved.
