Once you open the box and read the instructions it should all be
apparent. You'll need to connect via ethernet or phone line to activate
your subscription. If you don't activate the unit it will be worthless.

I don't have a subscription to the tv schedules so do I need to
connect it to a phone line? My intentions are to setup a DVArchive
server. What do I need to get the replay initialized? Thanx. |

Since I don't have a subscription out of the box, will I get a free trial
period? |

You will get a 10 day free trial. After that, either subscribe or use it as
a boat anchor.

Try Video Lan Client. It might work for you without adding a codec,
though it takes a little more CPU cycles than other options.
If you install a DVD playing application, like WinDVD or PowerDVD
the
codec will be on your system and then you can use WMP. Some folks
have
had luck with installing the demo versions and then using WMP to
view
them they might even work past the 30-day trial period (try it).
There are also some low-cost available codecs, I forget the exact
name
but i think it starts with an "e" and cost abut $20
Elecard? That's the one mentioned on the VideoLAN page.
Note that it messes up your video after the free trial period, if
not
registered.

I, along with another poster seem to recall a distant memory of a

My point is that magic9 and I look forward to your posts and replies.
At least I do inasmuch as I always check your posts first and as

I get most of the quotes from sigs other people use and collect them
on my web page (http://notstupid.laughingsquid.com/quotes.html). I
guess someone got it from there.

Yes. Also, I seem to have fixed the scheduler problem that kept the
dynamic sig from updating.

Sounds like it thinks it has a very low capacity.
When you connect that drive to a computer, does RTVPatch show the
correct size?
Are you sure you used the "patch target drive" command right?

My Panasonic Showstopper PV-HS2000 displays "Please Wait a Few Moments
...." screen when turn on but it doesn't do anything after that, I
can't
use remote or even turn it off with the power button. Is it bad sign?
this unit works before .......
Have you rebooted it? Hold the power button down.

Is the replay still accessible after the schedules quit? Would I still have
access to my movies I copied? |

Then, the unit must have been lying about how long the trial
activation lasts.

You wouldn't use 'patch' instead of 'restore' (WHAT are you
patching?), but AFTER 'restore'.

I have a monthly machine and I have seen "doorstop" a few times. The play list |
is still there but there is no sound when you play them. The guide is blank and
you get a nag screen with virtually every key press. There was something else
wrong but I don't remember what it was. |

It sounds like you are using the WAN ports of BOTH your wireless AND
wired routers. Don't. Connect your wireless to wired via the LAN
ports. |

It's a doorstop. Please understand that the fee is not for a
subscription to the TV listings. The fee is part of the unit's cost and
is a license subscription. The listings are just one of the features
that are turned on when the fee is paid. This should have been made
clear to you when you bought it.
