Old Receiver Question |
|
|
Hey all,
I have an old Pioneer receiver (VSX-9500S, I believe) on which th
display only half works. The left side of the display, as far right a
"VIDE" when you have video selected, works, but everything right of tha
is completely dead.
For a while, tapping on the front of the unit would bring it back t
life, then opening up the box and wedging a toothpick or similar ite
under the circuit board for the front panel would do the trick, but no
it seems to be rather thoroughly dead.
Any ideas on what the cause may be, or suggestions of other things t
try in order to get it to work again?

Some displays use a "presure" contact to the PCB. age and dirt may be |
your problem. If the display unclips, a "PinkPearl" eraser may cure
the dirty contacts.
A cracked trace is possible on a Bank select pin.

I had a VCR that worked like that. Turned out to be a bad
solder joint. You might also have a bad feed-through between
layers in the circuit board, a bad flex-cable, or a bad solder
joint where the flex cable connects to the circuit card.

I'm somewhat familiar with this model.
It's solder connections along the display tube.
