Anyone using a Pioneer 108 having problems writing to Bulkpa |
|
|
Hi All,
I've just upgraded from a 104 to a 108 and I 'think' the drive maybe
duff, but I thought I'd ask you lot first...
I've swapped out the drive, upgraded nero to 6.6.0.1 (I've also tried
Alcohol). The Nero buffer is up at 98% to 100% but the drive buffer is all
over the place, anything from 98% to 0. It's taking 27 mins to burn a 3 gig
file at x4. The modes are all set to udma, I've got the drive as master on
the 2nd channel and I've removed the second device so it's on it's own.
I've got the latest driver for everything I can think of but it still
won't burn as fast as the old 104 (which has worked with this media
faultlessly for the last 10 months).
I'm using Blukpaq x4 from SVP which has always worked before, I've also
tried the Blukpaq x8 and that too burns very slow due to the same buffer
issues. I've not installed anything (other that the upgrade to nero to try
to solve this problem).
I'm running XP pro with sp1 and as I said everything work fine with the
104 ?
Anyone have any thoughts ? duff drive ?

The newer Pioneer drives have different firmwares in to wich what type of
media is good for it. For example Beall dvd-r's have worked in some of the
older Pioneer drives but they newer ones do not like it at all. Also Bulkpaq
dvd-r's are not the best quality of media and I would reccommend Taiyo Uden,
Ritek, and Prodisc dvd-r for working in the pioneer drive as they are the
best for working for good quality media wise with that drive. I have used
Ritek G04 and have had no problems with over 100 plus burns so far and
prodisc seems to be really good with the Pioneers as well. I hope it will
work better for you with other media. Also you can go too www.videohelp.com
and they have anything there for dvd stuff and other things as well.
