Best buy is selling some Fuji -R and +R for about $20 for 50.

Is Fuji any good? Who actually makes them?

Fuji is good media. Make sure they are at least 4x for that price. Some
places are advertising 50 pack DVD +R for that price but they are 1x.

Thanks. The newspaper ad did not give the speed so I figured it was 4x,
which would have been a decent price for a spindle of 50. The on line ad
has them at 2.5, so they may be old 1x with a hope for of "up to 2.5".

Again, thanks- I will pass up the "bargain".

I second the vote about Fuji AND there are some Memorex
packs being sold by Staples for about $30 which are indeed
1x which is perfect for me as I can use them in the Panny
E50 and use the 4x in the pc for dupping.

The Fuji DVD+R I have used are made by Ricoh - the same as the
TDKs I use.

The lowest existing speed for +R is 2.4x.
These don't ususally have a speed marking.

I just bought a 50 pack of -R at Best Buy for $19.95 and they are 8x.

Depends on whether the stuff is made in Japan or made in Taiwan, and
what speed. Some of it is made by TY, some by Ricoh, and some by a
third company I can't recall off hand. All pretty decent grade media.
The stuff made in Japan is supposed to all be TY media, which is the
best, but I can't say that for certain.

What brand? If they're fuji that's a pretty good price. If it's the
store brand crap (BB or Cicero), it's not worth the money at 1/2 the
price.

When demand is high they outsource in Taiwan. Lots of us/japan
companies working out of taiwan. Loads of shit media made in Taiwan
too.

Somethin I have noticed is that on the pioneer 108 drives the better
media which is often certified will burn faster than it was rated at.
IE 4x will go at 8x and 8x at 12x/16x.

Budget media won't burn faster because its not certified media.

The media I buy have the media code of tyg02 and can burn these 8x at
12x. So far over 600 burns and all have gone through pretty much
flawlessly, oh I did have two failed burns but my own fault so can't
blame the media.

The discs cost me $1.50 each for a spindle of 50 and price came down
to $1.10 for 500 discs. These are Aussie dollars.

I tried ritek early this year and they were good. Ritek of about
August onwards were a shocker. There was this see through plastic
lines on the edges of the disc. Some discs were stuck together so must
be glue. How does glue get onto the sides of the disc?
