noise cancelling headphones for voice |
|
|
I read that noise cancelling headphones work great, except for
cancelling voice. Does the marketplace have ones that can cancel
neighbor's blaring audio yet? No, I will not be playing my own music
inside the headphones at the same time.

Noise cancelling headphones work by analyzing ambient sound and
then generating a waveform of opposite sign (180 out of phase).
In other words, they use the existing sound to predict the cancellation
they will need, say, 1 second from now.
This works great for things like motors, which are very repetitive,
but it's useless for anything that's changing quickly in pitch and/or
volume - like voices.

It is not market conditions but technical limitations that keep the systems
from cancelling voice and music.

Based on my limited knowledge of and experience with noise cancelling
headphones, it is my opinion that what you have read is incorrect. |
