Problem Sonic MyDVD - Windows XP SP2 |
|
|
With my capture card came Sonic's MyDVD Ver. 5.2.3.0. I installed it on my
system running Windows
XP SP2. When I went to launch the program Windows
stop the program ("Windows has encountered a problem
and has to shut down"). I have tried everything imaginable
to get it to launch with no success. I then called Sonic's
Support and the person I talked to alluded to a problem
with SP 2 and that it was being addressed (solution in two
weeks). Not trusting to a phone conversation I also sent
an E-mail giving all the details and received a reply back
giving possible solutions. None of them worked, which I
have conveyed to Sonic. The reply from them was the
same suggestions that I told them that did not work.
It has been five weeks without a cure for the problem. I
have tried other programs and they have all worked. My
position is that since "I bought it, it better work!" whether
I end up using their program or not.
Anyway, I have put this out and have wondered if anyone
else has had the same problem or has a solution to my
problem.

PS: I have installed the card and software on friends ME,
98 and plain Windows XP machines. The program worked on all three.

I had serious problems with Sonic's software on Win2K and am surprised
that they even bothered to answer tyour e-mails.
The version (at the time) was so bad as to prevent anyother DVD
related software from either installing or running; worse than a virus,
as uninstall did not help.
Had to re-format the drive and install the OS and everything else from
scratch.
I think that you will have to eat the software (and cost); toss the CD
and any manuals and forget it, unless you are rich enough to take them
to court. |
