Hello all. Sorry for the cluelessness of the post but I'm trying to
do some video extraction from my Tivo. I see 2 applications out there
Tytools and TyStudio. I'm wondering if somebody could help me with
the difference between the two and which one people prefer. Thanks in
advance!

Also, forgot to ask - can you "stream" video from Tivo using either of
these applications to a Windows-based PC over a network? Not just
extract video (I think they both do that) but actually stream it into
some sort of media player so I can watch the shows on my PC which are
stored on Tivo? Again, many thanks.

Go with TyTools, I don't believe TyStudio is supported anymore. To stream
from the Tivo to your PC you need Tserver, which runs on the Tivo and does
the streaming, as well as the right CODEC installed on your computer.
Search DealDataBase.com for references to Tserver.

I believe it's Vserver you need. Yes, tytools supports streaming from your
TiVo
if you install the TiVo server component (which integrates nicely into
TivoWeb Plus)
and the .ty codec on your PC.

Oops. meant Vserver, sorry 'bout that. Tserver is for TyTools :-)
