Should I just download the Divx codecs from divx.com without downloading
their memory hog of a player? I also need a Quicktime lite codec without
downloading that monstrosity of a player.

No, FFDShow has proven to be FAR faster and more efficient at decoding
all generic MPEG4 codecs, including DIVX. Especially with
post-processing options.

FFDShow also gives you precise control of aspect ratio and resize
settings as well as the option to use its post processing filters on any
video source (raw, etc), whereas DIVX is considerably more limited.

Even with heavy post processing and resizing output for HDTV and noise
filtering, my CPU usage is lower than just DIVX with it's PP options.
