Hughes DVR Directivo Freezing problem |
|
|
I've got a DirecTivo DVR2 by Hughes. We just started using the
package with the local channels which came with a new triple lnb dish,
etc.
The Problem started about a month ago. When watching a recording,
whether previously recorded or rewound from live tv, the picture would
freeze and the DVR would lockup and not respond to either the remote
or manual inputs. This pausing would last anywhere from a few seconds
to several minutes. The program would then continue and the lockup
again.
I've removed the power from the DVR and that seems to help for a short
while, except on programs that were previously recorded, they seem to
retain this problem in the recording.
I don't want to do a hard boot because I've got several programs I've
recorded that I don't want to lose. I'm close to opening up the bos
to remove the drive and download my recordings but want to know if
anyone else has had this problem?

not normal. if you do end up opening the box and pulling the drive,
grab a copy of your kernel.log and see if anything is reported (like
drive read errors perhaps). also check the system info screen
to make sure it's not overheating. (anything below 50C is fine). |

If you remove the drive, you won't be able to download the recordings since
TiVo stores things in a large database, not as individual *.MPG files.
But http://www.newreleasesvideo.com/hinsdale-how-to/ explains how to
copy the data (verbatim or minimized) to a larger disk.
