This may be a bit convoluted but I think the basic question is "does any
universal remotes work with TIVO?"

I have had a Radioshack 8 in 1 for years and I have one button programmed to
turn on and off all my equipment (Amp, CD, TV, VHS cable box and DVD). Now
I have added TIVO.

I am ready to pull the DVD and the VHS units (My TIVO has a DVD). But I
would like to program one button to turn off my TV and AMP. The Tivo remote
will do one or the other but not both.

Any suggestions?

Lots of ~$20 remotes now work with TiVo. Read the fine print on the box
label.

and if you want 1 button to turn off multiple items, you need a remote
that's capable
of macros.

So tell the RS remote to control the Tivo instead. I use my RS 15-2117 to
control my Tivo and it works great. Granted, I had to 're-use' some other
buttons to get the thumbs up/down but everything else works great. I don't
use the thumb functions anyware so it's not a loss.

I use the Home Theater Master MX-500. Controls up to
10 components including TiVo, has macros, and custom
LCD-titled buttons. It's available from a number of
online places for about $70. Mine's been going strong
for over 2 years.

Older universal remotes have TiVo and Replay listed in the VCR section.
Newer remotes have a DVR section with two types of TiVo and two of the other.

I use the One for All URC-6131. It inexpensive, has thumbs up and down
buttons, 30 sec skip, page up and down, etc. It also works with my ReplayTV,
It is also JP1 capable if you are into reprogramming it. (Requires a mod).
This remote works well out of the box.

Actually the TiVo remote power button will control the TV and AMP
simultaneously. See http://www.tivofaq.com/Tips.html#AVPower . In this
mode the volume buttons go to the amplifier.

This is all I use. I've got a TV, Tivo, Rca DSR7000N (PVR/DVD combo), 2
vcr's, and CD player on it. You can use almost every key as a learning
key, and it also has macro and home theater features. And they're under
$20 locally. $19.97.:-)
