I currently have a DirecTivo hooked up to my home theatre system. I am
considering adding the high definition Tivo, but I don't know if I have
enough inputs on my television. My TV has one set of component video inputs,
which is now used for my high definition tuner. Question: when I get the
high def Tivo, will I need another set of component video inputs, or will
the hr10-250 replace my high definition tuner? My understanding is that the
high def Tivo has several tuners, so it can record two HDTV shows at the
same time. If that means I can remove my prior HDTV tuner from my system and
use only the tuners in the hr10-250, I will be able to hook it up.
Otherwise, I will need to get another piece of equipment to provide more
component video inputs. Can anyone help me out with an answer to this
question? I'd really like to hear from folks who actually own and use the
hr10-250. Thanks.

It will replace your existing HD tuner.

The HR10-250 can simultaneously record two DirecTV channels,
two OTA subchannels, or one of each. I had a Samsung SIR-T151
OTA tuner connected to my widescreen TV, but disconnected it when
the recorder arrived. Now I might as well sell it on eBay as it
is completely unused.

I suppose I would be able to do the same. I was thinking that if I retained
my current hi def tuner, I could record two HDTV shows and watch a third,
but realistically, there would be very few times that three shows that I
want to watch would be on at the same time. And, since I have only one
component video input available my TV, I would have to purchase additional
equipment, which would not be worth doing. Thanks for the response.
