PLEASE Can anyone help-JVC XV-SA600 giving me problems |

First let me say I am not a technical smarty and the only reason I
bought a multi-region DVD player is to get the restored Laurel and
Hardy PAL-Region 2 DVD sets from Europe. I am in the US.
The first player I bought was a Toshiba SD-3815 and have been very
happy with it.
Last year I decided to upgrade and get a JVC XV-SA600 as I kept
hearing these are better machines all around. Well I am very
dissapointed with this unit.
First of all, while it plays the Kinowelt (German) and Universal
Benelux (Holland) DVDs fine it rejects the Universal-UK discs(all in a
21 box set) for some reason. I get picture and audio during the main
Universal logo intro-then when it goes into the main menue, everything
goes silent! No audio at all during, even when I click on the main
feature. Why would this player do this?
Also, during playback on a number of discs (either region 1 or 2)the
unit self locks and stops playing the disc and all I get is a freeze
frame. This is not a layer change as the same discs plays fine on my
other machine. Pressing the 'play' button doesn't even work when this
happens. I have to stop it and re-play it to resume. What is the cause
of this happening?
Anyway, I am unhappy with the JVC even though so many users like this
brand.
Are these common problems with thisJVC DVD player? Or did I just get
stuck with a turkey player?
