If I run a line to my TV from my PC that's playing a high def Divx video,
would I need a high def capable TV for it to show high def? Thanks.

Yes.

You can not magically get better quality on a TV than the TV is capable
of. Your video card will have to be capable of HDTV-like resolution as well.

You would need a TV with a D-Sub 15 pin connector which is also capable of
handling PC scan rates. The 700mb XviD files which are commonly available
are only half the resolution of true HD. 960x530 rather than 1920x1030,
although slightly better than DVD (720x480). You could only use a HD
compatible TV if your PC was fitted component video outputs or TV had a
digital video input.
