Hi there DVDers

have anything to do with a PC ie goes with your tele (TV if you are
American).

I want it to replace an aged VCR . I want it to be all singing all dancing
ie.

I want to have video plus (Most Important as her indoors might use it), A
big Hard disk, burn every type of format +- ram rom you name it.
I want it to read & write DIVx Xdiv Mp3 Mp4 Mp5 and every Mp there is Viw
Wav PM3 WMA WMB WMC CD-Video, S-Video, JPEG, MPEG-1,Pictrue CD, DivX
3.11, DivX 4.x, DivX 5.x, Xvid all in there + & - versions obviously.
CD-DA,MP3,Dolby Digital,
we haven't got enough of these have we.
Most people's grannies say you cant have everything in life but what comes

Basically is there a DVD recorder on the market that does almost every

Nope. Doesn't exist.

Shuttle XPC or similar mini-PC + ATI All-In-Wonder video card with
remote control + DVD burner + 400GB HD * 2 = 800GB online storage +
Mitsui 7-in-1 3.5" floppy drive + flash card reader + your choice of 7.1
PCI sound card.

Baby will run rings around anything else on the regular consumer
market today.

Computerphile nonsense and not connected to the original poster.

Right. And still, no such thing as an all-in-one DVD player that
meets the specs originally stated, so might as well put in the
suggestions for all-in-one media boxes that do meet the requirements as
alternative solutions.

And here's the thing -- it works! DVD plays just fine using the
remote control on my Shuttle XPC; TV? No problem! One button brings up
the TV, and I can 'tivo' it all day long. Burning? Anything and any
format I'd ever want to the DVD burner. Want to view Internet on the
screen? No problem! Can even have IE up at the same time as a DVD is
playing, the TV window is up, and a fourth window for something else all
at the same time. And absolutely no problems working with any of the
available file formats out there today - MP3 to whatever just plays.

Heck, even a modded Xbox running Xbox Media Center
(http://www.xboxmediacenter.com/info_screens.htm) does more than most
DVD players.
