Could somebody please tell me where to look for the latest official
version.I`ve used Copernic to look and can only find Main NEC sites that
dont seem to contain the info.

Latest official version is 2.17, it's up on

http://forum.rpc1.org

There are newer versions, but they're for rebadged versions of this
drive and not intended for the real NEC version of the drive.

Sorry, seems 2.18 has just been released and I screwed up the URL for
the firmware page:

Based on discussions, the strategy tables are more recent than even
the unsupported rebadged firmwares:
