Re: Which portable DVD players support all regions? |
|
|
Thanks Alpha. I looked at http://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers.php?DVDname=&Search=Search&portable=1&country=US&orderby=Name&hits=25&Submit2=Search results, but how do I know they support all
regions without limitations?

Hello!
I am looking for a portable DVD player (new) that support all regions
(mostly Chinese movies and TV series) without limitations and cracking
(e.g., replacing chip(s)). Also, the player has to be light to be
portable to watch in vehicles, planes, and be able to connect to
TV/projectors.
Are there any sales (less than $200) in Southern California, USA? Thank
you in advance. :)

On 1/15/2005, sripara@yahoo.com managed to type:

throw some light.
BTW Gene, to create chapter on a dvd -r/rw you need to press the
chapter divide button while recording itself.
Thx.

I thought the OP was talking about adding chapter marks after the
recording was done.
I quote: "I am unable to add more chapters (or split the existing

Other than that, thanks for the info -- I own a LiteOn, so nothing is
quite the same. :-)

ACME is the only brand that Wylie buys. They must be good.

In a local Chinese newspaper ad. I guess I won't bother since no one has
heard of this brand. :(

Hi, that's the model, EDVD7500, sold in Mexico, region 4.
I want to make it region free or multiregion, and to enable/disable
Macrovision too.
Can you help me?
Carlos Serrano.
Ok, I've found it, and for the one interested, it's the same for
Mitsui 650, they look pretty the same at first.
You do, at remote:
1. open tray
2. setup
3. 3308
4. enter region number desired, 0 = multiregion
5. setup again
6. enjoy
Curiosly, my A.I. dvd doesn't function with multiregion setting, I
have to set it at region 3 explicitly, but once it works, it doesn't
matter where it was intended to go.

Re: How to upgrade Philips DVP642/17 DVD Player Video/Audio |

Hello,
I can't watch some of my DivX movies on Philips DVP642/17 DivX DVD
Player.
I installed several codecs on my PC - such as DivX 5.2.1 Video Codec,
AC3 Audio Codec and such. Now I can watch any movie on my PC Windows
Media Player.
My question is: Is it possible to install additional codecs to Philips
DVP642/17 DVD Player. Something like: if I download codec software to
CD, insert this CD to Philips DVP642/17 DVD Player and install the
extra codecs?
Can I do it? And if possible - how exactly?
|
There is a firmware upgrade, but I believe it's been pulled from
Philips website pending a newer one (hopefully). Today I encountered a
yahoogroup dealing with the dvp642, which provides a source of
information and links. Haven't had a chance to look it over in depth,
seems fairly new.
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/philips_dvp642/
Love the player, but I've gotten into the habit of burning movie files
to CD-RW or DVD-RW to see if they'll play before doing anything
permanent. I'm sure that clever folk can use an analyzer like GSpot
and see that sort of thing in advance, but I never know what to look
for. |

There are 8 regions; #1-6 are geographical, #7 is "reserved," and #8 is
for special use (airlines, etc.). Here's one brief explanation:

Re: Are there problems with new DVD's, or my SONY S7000? |
|
|
"Z3Coupe" <***z3coupe@earthlink.net***> wrote:
| Quote: | Sorry to cross post this, but I've been away from this for awhile and am not
sure where to go with this question.
I have a 3 year old SONY DVP-S7000 DVD player. It used to be the reference
unit, and some still think its the best (non-progressive scan) unit.
A lot of the older DVD's I had bought play fine on it except for one common
problem to both old and newer DVD's. One in awhile I hear a pop, and the
sound goes away for a moment. I had thought that perhaps I was getting a
power spike somewhere (old apartment and wiring, but I DO have a good surge
suppressor), causing my Onkyo 939 to reset. But on a S7000 FAQ website, I
see there MIGHT be some problems with a chip. Anyone else have this problem?
Next, and the most troublesome - on quite a few of the latest released
DVD's, the movie seems to lockup, the player seems to go into a search mode,
and then the movie will skip a number of scenes and start to play again. I
have rewound the movie, and many times it will STILL do the same thing in
the same spot. And there have even been times that the movie will shut off
completely. I have cleaned the tray to make sure there is nothing sticky on
it, and looking inside with a flashlight and it seems free of dust. Has
anyone else encountered this too? I seem to remember that on CD's, and
specially CDR's, they are not "cut" as good and are hard to read or as very
slow to access. Is it possible that now DVD's have caught on in a big way,
that the now mass production of DVD's are making them cheaper and not
recorded as good? Or could it be the new layering style???
*** as a sidenote, the movie Bicentennial Man skipped in the SAME spot on my
GF's Pioneer 535 unit the other night, as it did on my S7000. That sort of
makes me wonder if it IS the new style of DVD's.
I had a similar problem on a Sony 735D DVD player. I noticed that the |
trouble started when reading from the second layer of the DVD.
Some on this newsgroup have said that the laser is wearing out.
I also thought that the cleaning DVD might have caused some damage.
Do you play hired DVD's or play new DVD's? I was thinking that hired
DVD's might have some marks on the surface of the DVD causing
problems. The newer DVD players have error correction build into them
to prevent problems.
It might also be happening on DVD's that are highly compressed to be
able to fit a lot on the DVD.
If you are able to find out what DVD's that skip have in common then
you might have a better idea of what the problem is.
Regards Brian |
