monitor at 1600x1200x32 at 85hz in fullscreen mode. I was frankly
astonished at how great the quality was. (even without the optional iNvida
graphic card upgrade). Viewing HDTV on this monitor is the next logical
step.
My question is, has anyone had a good experience connecting a set-top box
HDTV reciever with a standard PC type RGB output to a good quality CRT
monitor like this one? I got this monitor for free and fixed the
brightness/contrast myself with a $0.99 resistor mod, and am curious if
such
a setup would work without an expensive (Key Digital, etc.) transcoder.
The
dual inputs on this monitor are great for killing time watching video on
input #1 while waiting for lengthy downloads on the PC connected to input
#2. Driving the monitors #1 input with a vcr NTSC tuner via a composite
rca
cable into a Matco security systems transcoder just isn't going to cut it
for long on the video quality.
Any recommendations?
On my computer desk I have a Zenith HDV420 driving an older Panasonic 21" |
monitor. It works quite well. The Panasonic only has one input, so I use a
VGA switch I had laying around. I got the Zenith tuner as a cheap "open
box" at CC. Using a computer monitor has the advantage of being able to
adjust the overscan yourself to zero, and of course you can adjust the
vertical size down to 16x9. |
