My aunt's old sylvania is dead. Local Wal Mart has Emerson for 40.00 US. I
tend to buy Sharp but she feels it is out of her price range. Anybody have
opinions on whether the emerson or other low cost machines is good enough to
tape her programs.

Hello to let you know on your question on the Emerson vcr's at Walmart for
40.00 they are just two head and mono sound and not a four head hifi stereo
vcr like most others. They are cheaply made and from what I have heard they
dont give the best quality but since your aunt just uses it to record her
programs then it should be enough for her and you can always bring it back
if you dont like it and just keep the receipt to make sure.
