My VCR (a recent RCA) automatically readjusts it's clock for the change
back to standard time. Unfortunately, it didn't wait until 2 AM Sunday
to do this. I had programmed it to tape "Jag" at 9 PM Friday. When I
checked to be sure it was recording about 9:15, I saw that it was not.
The reason was that the clock had reset to standard - and only said
8:15. I had to quickly re-program to start at 8:20 to get the rest of
the program. Why did the clock change Friday instead of Sunday?

complicated for me too. a jvc did the automatic time shift at the
right time. two mitsubishi u778s failed to shift at all - i had to go
into the menu and manually disable daylight savings. is it possible
that the local pbs station didn't send a signal? os is i t somehtign
screwed up internl to the mitsu.. vcrs?

my ancient sony doesn't have these problems - it requires manual
resetting anyway!

I've in the past noticed that sometimes when the local stations
broadcast a time signal over the air the don't send one through the
cable. As I've had cable longer than I've had a VCR I've always had to
reset the clocks manually, first a ProScan and now a Mitsubishi 748.

On what page of the U778 manual does it say that the VCR will change
to standard time automatically without being prompted to do so? Read
that section carefully.

the menu for the clock clearly has an automatic daylight savings set.
it worked in the spring to move forward. i assumed it would move back
properly.

i played with it. as i turned daylight savings off and on it moves back
and forward exactly one hour.

so instread of resetting the clock, i only reset the daylight saving
sbit.

hpwever, the u778 does set itself properly on installation from my
local pbs channel, coming over the cable box!

Does your cable box have to be tuned to the local PBS channel?

My Mitsubishi U448 VCR autosets the clock each night at 2 AM,
but the daylight saving time change didn't take effect until the VCR
was turned on/off after the time change this morning.

Yeah. YOU toggle it on or off. It doesn't do it by itself.

This is strange. During the evening yesterday, I noticed that the clock
went back another hour (it was a hour behind the correct time. Later on
it was back to normal.
