What happens - Play PAL on NTSC vcr? |
|
|
While traveling in Mexico I bought a video tape that was sold to me as
NTSC, and NOT PAL. When I brought it home it have audio, but NO
video. Video is a solid black (no scrambling, distortion, nothing).
What happens if you play PAL on NTSC vcr, is it possible I got a PAL
tape? Or is it likely I got a bad dub - audio track only? If it is
PAL, and I play it on NTSC vcr, would I even get sound?
Thanks!

pal tape in ntsc vcr gave me belts of horizontal lines and distorted
audio (varying in speed) - whether you see this will depend on the tv
or vcr muting system -some mute or blank out the signal if they sense
it is distorted. So all you get is a black/blue screen and no audio.
try it in a friend's vcr see what happens. sounds like you got a badly
recorded tape. Mexico isn't exactly renowned for quality control.

Then we didn't get a PAL tape then, likely a bad dub, which I kinda
figured. We called the location (its tape of me swimming w/dolphins)
and they gave us a fedex accnt to return, correct.
Hopefully they will come through.
