I dont know whether this is the right place to ask this but here goes

I have 2 Toshiba V632UK VCRs and am having the same problem on both of
them.

I recently unplugged them both to do some decorating and now when I
have plugged them back in I get no sound and the clock does not update
when I have gone through the installation process.

I wonder if anyone has come across this before and has a solution

Here's hoping

Bri

how are they connected to the tv?
try both scart and RF, individually connected to the tv. any difference?
Is audio present on E-E (tuner)mode, or tape playback?
hifi or mono audio selected?

I have tried ever combination going and still no sound either thru tv
or playback on tape. I think it must be some sort of fault with the
setup of the vcr as it is exactly the same on both :(

Thanks anyway

i think you're right, as it is highly improbable that both units would
fail in this way: the problem must be elsewhere.
Have you tried them on a friend's tv?
Are the vcrs stereo?
if so, use a prerecorded tape with Hi fi audio and also try a mono
one.
check the audio options in the menus, things like audio mix on/off,
simulcast recording setting etc etc.
