What's "Auto Speed Timer Recording (Just REC)" on some Sony |
|
|
Hi,
I'm trying to buy some old VCRs.
I've gotten to know that some old Sony models have a feature of "Auto
Speed Timer Recording", which is alternatively called "Just REC".
Could anybody shed light on that feature? TIA

Not sure, but if it's the same as AUTO speed timer recording in newer
VCRs, the VCR will automatically record in SP for as long as it can,
but switch to EP recording for just long enough to fit entire recording
on the tape.
For example, a program is 60 minutes long, but the tape has only 45 minutes
left on it in the SP mode. The VCR will automatically record for 38 minutes
in SP, and switch to EP for the final 22 minutes of the program.
My Mitsubishi has that function, and it does come in handy. |

I see. Thanks, ric. I think I like that feature. |

It is *extremely* handy when time shifting with my SVHS HS-U795, where
EP recording is nearly as excellent as with SP. I use it quite often. |
