Thanks for your info,
Have found a great web site that helps to troubleshoot:
http://straylight.cso.niu.edu/repairfaq/sam/tshoot.htm
Will try cleaning the lens first then check the alignment. This is
great CD player and I want to keep it going. Have now found a supplie
for the CD Laser pick up's, but await a response regarding availability
Hopefully after a clean it will be running ok, fingers crossed!!
Thanks for your help.

Thanks arny, you're right but would like to repair it, could be a
faulty laser pick up, anyone know a supplier for these????????-
Ben, if you insist on it, you can get a new laser head. It wil
probably cost
on the order of US$90 - I know, because I have done the homework t
find a
new laser for a Thompson DVD drive. Since a replacement drive wit
better
specs was available for only US$120, I spent the extra US$30 and save
myself
the aggravation of aligning the new laser head.
You'll need to know the exact model and revision numbers for you
existing CD
drive. Finding those may be an issue, unless you're lucky enough t
have a
standard computer-type CD-ROM drive embedded in that player.
