About two years ago, I posted the following in this newsgroup:

"What are the recommended VCR players these daze.

Only intended use is for, as needed, taping TV shows to be viewed later."

Back then I purchased a Panasonic PV-V4522 based on recommendations in this
newsgroup.

Time to ask again.

Any one of several Mitsubishi VCR models would be a good choice.
Select the one which has the features you want.

BTW, Mitsubishi VCRs are available only in stores. You can't get them
from online merchants other than Ebay sellers.

I recently purchased a Sony SLV-N750 from Best Buy for similar purposes, and
I have been very pleased with its performance in both playback and recording
quality.

Does Mitsubishi have a web site for their VCRs?

VCRs appear under the Products tab.

See Dealer Search under Search tab.

I have the U748, and it works well. The front panel display is
useless, however; you'll have to turn on the TV set to program it.

Does 1-month/8-program recording timer mean you need to re-program it every
month?

The 1-month limitation is likely to be for day & time recordings.
You may not be able to program a recording on a specific day more
than one month before that day.

The month doesn't need to be specified if your recorder can be
programmed to record on the 25th day of a month.

Most VCRs will enable a recurring recording to be done on
a specific weekday.

Such is true for the Sony. The limitation only holds for programming a
recording on a specific day. Otherwise, recordings can be programmed for
either daily Mon-Fri, or on a weekly basis.
