Pop during recording of VCR tape on JVC HR-XVC26U |
|
|
We are close to the end of our 90-day warantee on a JVC combo DVD
video player and VCR recorder. Once or twice an hour, during
recording various programs, (both on DirectTV and on regular broadcast
stations) there is a 'pop' sound. I would describe it as the kind of
'pop' you might see if there was an electronic disturbance in a local
circuit - like when someone turns on or off a light switch in a poorly
grounded system (or like the discharge of a capacitor?)
We changing tapes, but the problem still exists. We can watch
DirectTV without the VCR unit powered up and we experience no 'pop'.
We are pretty sure the problem exists in our new JVC recorder.
I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem. We
are going to do some more experiments, since we have an older JVC unit
that we can use to see if the 'pop' goes away (which would mean the
new unit is bad.)

Just a thought.... I have a Toshiba VCR and I've noticed when it
automatically changes recording speed it makes a hell of a pop. This happens
when I use the AUTO tape speed feature and the VCR changes to the
long-playing recording mode to make the program material fit the tape. I
think my Sony VCR does this also.
I had an old Mitsubishi which did the speed change with no fuss at all.
