Tube Tester - NOS reading would be? |
|
|
Sencore Mighty Mite II TC114.
Testing 6L6GC and 12AX7.
Readings show 109 for the 6L6GC,
and 106/106 for the 12AX7.
Would 100 be considered NOS i.e. what reading would be considered a
'NEW' tube?
Thanks

New means new, nothing to do with readings.
You can look it up in a dictionary. It will be somewhere between
never and next. If you don't find out you could easily get ripped
off at the shop.
cheers, Ian

It's tubes that I have and my tester I was wondering how close to 'new'
they might be to get a gauge on lifespan and for reference. |

My meter says less than 70% of specified emission at typical
operating point is a reject.
It doesn't say new or old...you are barking up the wrong tree there.
Assuming linear degradation 90% emission would suggest 30% shot,
etc, pro rata. Wouldn't give me a legal sale description here
though.
Some valves last a long time, some not so long, so guessing how used
it is requires experience of that particular kind of valve. Even
then it would only be a guess.
Use them until they don't work properly any more, then fit ones that
do.
