I have only one line running from my SAT to the house...I'm 99% sure there
is a spot for another line. Its way up on my roof so I cant just go look. :)
Anyway can I just use a regular coax cable or does it have to be a special
cable?

I'm hooking up my DVR this weekend! :)

Regular RG-6 is all you need.

thanks! I'm not sure how I'm going to approach getting another line set up.
Another question. Since I only have one line and I'm not sure when I'm
going to hook up the second line, will it still work? AND when I do get the
second line installed will I have to start over with programming...etc?

dumb questions...but I'm the new guy!

You should use a good grade of satellite-rated RG6 cable... ideally,
one with multiple layers of shielding (foil and/or braid).

The thinner, less expensive RG59 cable will have too much signal loss
per foot - you'll probably find that you can't get a lock on the
satellite.

Thanks...when I first installed the SAT, It came with about 100' of cable.
Right now that 100' cable is hooked up with single line..most of it is just
coiled up. I'm thinking I could just move my SAT closer to the input on the
house, this would give me more cable. I could splice that cable and get a
tool that will put the tips on. Thats what I think would be the less
expensive route. My SAT is way up high on a point on my house.

Yes it will work. During guided setup it asks how many cables are attached.
Just answer "1". When you run the second line, rerun Satellite setup and
change it to "2".

The comments here assume you have a DirectTivo (you didn't mention). If you
have a standalone Tivo, you'll be hooking it up to your existing receiver with
normal a/v cables. Hooking a standard Tivo up to your satellite dish won't
get you anything.
