Old 2 tracks reel-to-reel tape - software to decode |
|
|
Hello
I have some really old 2 tracks tapes which I am playing on a 4 tracks
reel-to-reel recorder. On tracks 1 - 4 there is "normal" sound (recorded on
a 4 tracks recorder). On tracks 2-3 there are sounds, but as this is
recorded with a 2 tracks recorder, the playback is backwards.
Question: Do you know of a program that can convert a MP3 file containing
"backwards sound".
Any solutions will be very high appreciated
Thanks in advance
Harald

Most people just throw away that information.
However, Adobe Audition and a number of other audio editors will reverse the
direction of an audio file. |

And you can't just turn the tape over ?

Why work on it as mp3 with the compression losses that entails ?

Import it as wav.
I think cool edit has a feature to reverse a block of sound.
Archive the wav afterwards, then encode as MP3 if that's what you
normally use.

If you can get it to wav format, it should be trivial to write a few
lines of C to reverse the entire file.

Disable playback from the backwards sounds and turn the reels over to hear
the other track ?
