I have the latest version at the time of posting and I'm wondering if
anyone else is having troubles burning DVDs. For some reason the
program just quits when you start burning -- no errors, no following
stability issues, nothing. Fortunately it's while it's preparing the
files and not actually burning them, so the DVD isn't lost. Do I have
to use a specific format or codec? Does NeroVision Express say it
supports a certain format/codec but actually doesn't? I'm doing this
with the burner that came with my Inspiron 5150.

Try turning off "Burn-at-Once" from the Burning Options. I've found that
the feature doesn't add any advantage and does take at least as long...or
longer, to complete a burn. It is possible that the overhead it imposes
might be causing you some trouble.

I had the same problem with NeroVE 2, after I got a new serial code from Ahead
to cover both my drives. I had the same issue as you describe. It seemed like a
bug. I spent a long time trying to figure out why it wouldn't even make it to
the buring stage. No decent error message. Checked the log too. Preparation of
files simply failed. I initially thought it might have been a codec issue too.
It made no sense. I even tried removing all codecs and reinstalling only the
codecs I needed. After reverting to original serial code (losing one of the
drives), it worked. Emails to Nero tech support were useless.

It occurs to me that VisionExpress when used with assorted hard drives,
especially USB hard drives which may not always be available, has a mind of
its own when it comes to foilder allocation. It really wants to save its
temporary files in the Windows temp folder (where there may not be
sufficient disc space) and its data files in its sub folder of My Documents.
It is worth checking the folder locations before starting.

FWIW I have had no problems burning from VE3 to a USB connected LiteOn
writer. The process is slow, but the results have been better than other
methods of using captured video that I have tried to date so I can forgive
the delay.

Actually I found out if I removed one particular movie file the thing
would run mostly fine. I couldn't find anything about the movie that
made it different from the others I had...anyway, while I was testing
to see if the movies were actually playable I noticed the quality I
had converted them to was...not acceptable. So I'm reencoding with
HuffyUV. ...I've noticed that Windows can't play movie files over 2
gigs in size, or even access them really. This seems odd...or is it a
HuffyUV issue? Just the same, I'm just cropping the movies down to
DVD size and I can stay within the size limit, so it's not a huge
deal, just curious.
