Find CoolEdit key in Program Folder... |
|
|
Hi,
I purchased CoolEdit 2000 and its Audio Cleanup Plugin in 2002 and used it
for some weeks on a former computer. I have the serial number detailsbut I
cannot find the activation key I downloaded from their webpages.
Does this key exist as a file in the program folder where CoolEdit was
installed and used...?
If not, can someone help me with the format of this key that I downloaded.
Was it a file or a text which I copied to the clipboard and pasted into
coolEdit? I have a complete backup of the old disk and might find the data
if I have some clues of what to search for ;-)
Thanks a lot if someone have som info on CoolEdit keys and activation.
If this is the wrong newsgroup for Cooledit questions, please point me in
the right direction ;-)
best regards
Tor

I was in exactly the same situation as you. I had paid for the registration
of the noise elimination package, then had a hard disk crash and couldn't
find it anywhere. I eventually gave up and used a third party plug-in. I
strongly recommend ClickFix. Not expensive, made for Cool Edit, and very
effective.

Thanks for the info Dave,
My main question is which format CoolEdit's key was in (file or
clipboarded). I have to have CE installed and up and running before I can
deal with the plugin.
Also if someone has the original installer filename of CE itself and the
audio plugin I have more clues on what to search for to find the
installation files in my huge backup archive.
Thanks again

Hi Allen,
Thanks a LOT!!
I have them all in my archieve.
Now, what about CE2k, is it worthwhile to install or is Adobe Audition so
much better that it's worth the upgrade price.
What is CE2k's strongest and weakest sides...?
Basically I would use it to record old vinyl discs onto digital media.
Thanks for comments

Adobe Audition is now, what was Cool Edit PRO.
That is to say, all the options and Plugins included.
But if you don't, for instance, mix tracks for mastering
home music (guitars, organs, voices ...) or do other complex jobs
Cool Edit 2000 is Ok for transferring vinyl to CDR.
( Especially as Audition is rather expensif)
Have a look at how I do transfers at:

Allen,
Thanks a lot for saving my day. I've CE2k and the NR plugin now up and
running all with data and keys from my backup. Will consider the plugin you
suggested. Thanks again ;-)
