Hi - this isn't a forum - this is usenet. These are just newsgroups on the
microsoft news server (msnews.microsoft.com) - you can subscribe to however
many you like.

No need to crosspost to so many groups when you use them, in the future.
Pick a small handful of relevant ones.

NB: Posting your valid e-mail address in a newsgroup post, or in your news
account settings, is a surefire way to get spam and SWEN and other viruses
sent to you....see http://www.mailmsg.com/SPAM_munging.htm for help in the
future, but note that now that your address is out there, there's not much
you can do other than changing your address.

Did you ever find a way to use the collections in an easier way than this?
Like you I want several video clips visible in the collections frame at one
time - this really limits my use of movie maker - I work mainly with short
video files from the family digital camera and creating 20 collections is
tedious!

Now, please someone correct me if I'm wrong, but while working in MM2 with
both the Collections Pane and the Contents pane in view, the contents pane
area can only display one clip at a time..

All I know is MM2 "task panes" are nothing close to what I am used to in the
Windows Explorer. I mean, I highlight the "collections" folder, then
FILE>Import INTO COLLECTIONS and from there I select about 10 or 12 media
clips, ranging anywhere from 8min to 18min each clip and the result: each
clip I choose to import is treated as its own "collection" within the
Collections folder, right? okay, heres what I don't get:

Let's say that of these 12 imported clips, the first 4 are just splits
that I want to combine into the full movie (getting porn from the net they
usually take one 15 min sceen and chop it up into severl small units). When
I highlight the main Collections folder, in the collections pane, the
contents area shows NOTHING. But, in the folder tree I see that these clips
are all "within" that collections folder.. My issue is, I am not able to
display, drag drop or trick more than one video clip icon in the contents
pane... WHY?

I figured out that I can drag a clip on the collections pane and drop it
into a different clip folder, at which it then shows a folder within a folder
all within the Collections folder..

So, lets say the first four of my imported clips are clip1.wmv, clip2.wmv,
clip3.wmv, etc... I figured out to drag the clip2, clip3 and clip4 icons
and drop them all into the clip1 icon and it shows an appropiate subfolder
tree.. BUT WHEN I THEN HIGHLIGHT THE CLIP1 icon having the other clips
within that clip1, the FREAKIN' Contents PANE WILL STILL ONLY SHOW ME THE
ICON FOR CLIP1 and nothing else.. EVEN WORSE, IF I DRAG that CLIP1 folder
COLLECTION TO THE STORYLINE, it will add the clip to the beginning of the
storyline, but only that CLIP1 footage, and nothing from the other that are
supposed to be in that collection..

I'm not getting it.. !
