I'm having this exact same problem. Somehow I've managed to turn on
Dual
view, and now the CRT displays an "extension" of my desktop, but not
the
actual desktop itself. I just wanna see the same thing on both screens
and
cannot figure out how to turn off this dual view feature.

All the Windows help docs I've found focus on the dual view feature,
and
not
how to turn the thing OFF! Very annoying.

dualview, since I want the same information displayed.

Can anyone help me with enabling an external monitor
while I see the same information on my laptop LCD.

Make sure the cable is securely attached to the monitor (some are
permanently attached, some are not) and that the power cable from monitor to
power source is secure.

Since you say it's on more than one monitor and more than one graphics card,
is the PSU in the PC OK? Sufficient wattage?

Hi

The past couple of weeks my display started flickering intermittently,
probably around 50% of the time. A reboot doesnâ?Tt make any
difference, it just seem to flicker whenever it feels like it. Iâ?Tve
tried swapping monitors and switching from my Geforce 2 to the onboard
graphics card too, but neither made any difference.

Any ideas?

Ian

p.s. as I typed this it stopped flickering, will probably start again
in a few minutes

Hi - I have several kiosks running Win XP Pro as well as Win 2000 and have
seen this problem several times on both operating systems. I have tried
reinstalling graphic drivers to no avail. The only thing that works is to
reformat the hard drive and start from scratch (which is a pain, obviously).
Did you ever find out what was happening?

I've been trying to get Movie Maker to work properly, but am having a heck
of
a time with it. The main problem I'm having is that often, when I go to
drag
transitions down in-between clips, the entire utility simply goes
away--POOF!

Which version are you running? If it's MM2.1, then go to tools > Options >
compatibility and try unchecking the items listed. If it's Version 2, tehn
look at www.papajohn.org hangs and crashes.
Quote:

The other problem I'm having is a little more complicated. I have two
film
clips that I've uploaded from my DV camera to my computer, using Win Movie
Maker. Both files are about 15 minutes long, and are accessible on my
computer through WMM. I imported each of them in turn, and cut them up
into
clips of various lengths, which I renamed and saved; each longer clip has
been cut into maybe 15 short clips. I can see these clips in the folder
when
I go to OPEN-->VIEW ALL FILES, but *not* when I try to just view the WMM
files; they won't show up. When I select them in the OPEN menu and try to
open them in WMM, I get an error message saying that WMM doesn't support
those types of files! But when I go to the folder and view the properties
of
each file, they are described as being WMM files!

All I want to be able to do is to open up these 30 files and arrange them
as
desired in the storyboard, insert transitions, and make a movie with them.
Any advice as to how to get the WMM utility to do what it's supposed to
would
be greatly appreciated. If it makes any difference, my machine is a HP
Pavilion running WinXP. Thanks in advance!

How did you cut these files? What did you then do with them? To use them
seperately you would have had to save them as seperate dv-avi clips. At
present they will be references to the large file.

Hi,

If you have not solved this, we need more information to help you.
First of all, have you changed anything? Did it work before or is this
something new? When you say it is still running, what do you mean by
that...I mean is it blank, but you can hear it or see it? Might also
tell us what motherboard, cpu, power supply (watts and brand name),
video cards, drives....just the information that will help us to solve
this.

Graham,

Was browzing threads to troubleshoot this very problem (I think). I'm not
savvy enough to know how get to the graphics card stuff much less the help
file for it in order to make the changes. Problem sounds similar. New
laptop. On two different LCDs the best I can get on the screen is the
background of my desktop, no icons, etc.. When I open something like
PowerPoint nothing appears on the LCD screen although it's just fine on the
laptop screen. Have done what I know how to do in display settings (similar
to above). Guidance?
