avi won't play anymore ... please help

I used to just double click on an avi files and it would show in my
winamp. I could also show it on MS MediaPlayer or anything that plays
avi files

Now, all I get is audio ... NO VIDEO (on any software)
This only happens on avi files ... other video files work.

HELP!!!

have you tried reinstalling the codec that these video files use?
e.g divx, xvid or ffdshow
