From an earlier post from someone in this group I saw a reference to

I've downlaoded this to try and sort out a problem, but I'm confused.

Basically, on my XP Pro system I can play DVDs OK using Power DVD, but when
I try to play them through Windows Media Player 9, I get no video and
distorted audio.

Thinking this might be codec related I dowloaded the above because I saw on
the website that it includes a codec to enable Media Player to play VOB
files.

But I can't work out which parts of the codec pack to install. Can anyone
help please. Or other ideas appreciated if I'm barking up the wrong tree
altogether.

I'm quite happy to continue playing DVDs with Power DVD, but I want to
understand/fix this problem just to learn.
