Does anyone know of any general rule for locating in-ceiling speakers?
They are primarily for background music but of course I want them to
sound as good as possible. The room is about 11'x13' and I was
planning to use 2 speakers, 1 each in opposite corners of the ceiling
about 3' from the corner.
Any feedback is welcome and appreciated.
Thanks.

Opposite corners? Be sure to give consideration to stereo separation. As
in, look at how the room will be typically used and balance the position of
the speakers to assure best left/right separation. If it's a room that has
seating you'll want to make sure their placement best suits the most
frequently used seating locations. Or use the stereo single speakers some
vendors offer, (bearing in mind that one unit acts as two speakers). For
small rooms like a bathroom or kitchen they're often a more workable
solution since you only need one hole in the ceiling.

Thanks for your input. I should have specified that it's a dining
room. There is a table in the middle of the room with 6 to 8 chairs
around the table. I was thinking opposite corners to try to get as
many seats as possible located between the speakers for the very
separation you mentioned.
