HD DVD Question |
|
|
I'm almost clueless about the latest DVD formats and the like. I have a 3
year Sony Mini DV camera. It has suited me fine for vacations and family
outings and the like. I've edited (condensed and titled) on a Phillips DVD
re-writable. So, my experience is very limited.
Currently, I plan to have someone shoot some video and edit for a work
project. He has access to video equipment and computer for editing.
It's possible I may need a lot more work done and may find it cheaper to do
the work in house. I was told that if I was interested in making my own
video the Canon GL2 would be a good video camera to start with. My concern
is with the changing video format. My fear is that the equipment might
become obsolete within a year or two with the push for technologies like HD.
Is this a legitimate concern?
From what I hear some new HD cameras will be coming out soon. They shoot
standard DV and HD from what I understand. (I could be wrong.) Is this
format something to consider? I know these cameras can run 5-7k or higher.
Can't justify the expense if they they haven't agreed on a standard format
yet. Well, I guess they did it with DVD's. So, anything is possible. Any
insight would be appreciated.
