I bought a Sony TRV-19 about a year ago on a whim, wondering later WHY,
since I am an avid still-photographer up to "here" with digital darkroom
stuff! Since then, it has started to capture my imagination and time more
and more. I have been making little mini-documentaries for my Episcopal
church and am being asked to do more of it for local school groups etc. I
would say my editing skills are getting pretty good and I am interested to
the point that I am looking for some college-level courses. I am pretty
skilled with Photoshop, having used it since the clone tool was the latest
and greatest little gizmo! (A long time)
All that is by way of explaining my background.
I want to upgrade my equipment. Which Digital camcorder would you recommend
under or around $1000, considering that I am kind of getting into this
deeper and deeper? What should I be looking for? I have read a few
articles. As to software, I have a PC which could add Premiere, but I would
rather continue using my Macs and have started learning "FinalCut." I've
been using iMovie, and it's not bad, but I am starting to find its
limitations. (I made a movie of a friend's ordination for her and wanted to
cut it down to website-sized "highlights" which, in iMovie, appears to be a
matter of starting all over again with the raw footage. Yawn!)
Suggestions, please, and "thanks" in advance.

A couple of my amateur beginner efforts can be seen at:

PS We DO have ASCAP and BMI licenses for the music!
