what is a reasonable $ video card with in's and out's. that will work with
analog conversion to digital.

You have a couple of choices. I chose the Pinnacle MovieBox (I got it on
Ebay with Studio 8 for $95. I believe you can buy it directly from
Pinnacle for about $140)

Also, Canopus ADC-100 is available for about $200. Neither of these are
cards, but stand alone boxes the attach to your firewire port on your
computer. Both take either S-Video or Composite in and out. Watching the
output on a monitor, there will be a slight delay as opposed to watching
video on your computer monitor.
