Lite-On 5101 is $139 at SAM's and it works.

Panasonic E-80 or newer similar model. Saw them on sale at Sears a couple
of weeks ago. Had mine over a year and love it. Records DVD-RAM, DVD-R,
finalizes to DVD-video and has an 80-gig hard drive for time-shifting and
chasing TV programs.

I suggest the Coby DVD-R1100. It's available for about $180, if you
shop around. It's DVD+R, DVD+RW, progressive scan, 5.1 sound and has DV
input on the front.
