I'm very pleased with this remote but I have one minor annoyance. There are
keys to provide direct access to Video 1 to 4 inputs on the TV, without
having to roll through the inputs in sequence. I liked this feature but
discovered that only Video 1 to 3 operate properly (i.e. jumps directly to
the designated input), and the Video 4 key does nothing. I have reset the
unit to ensure that the key programming was not somehow corrupted, but the
Video 4 key remained non-functional. One of nice features about this remote
is the learning function, but unfortunately the original TV remote does not
have this direct access to Video1 to 4 input feature, hence I can not teach
the RM-AV3000 commands that do not exist on the original TV remote.

Someone in this newsgroup referred me to a Sony web page which listed all
the TV command codes for various functions, "029" being the command to jump
directly to Video 4 input. I purchased an inexpensive ONEFORALL remote that
I was told should allow me to send the desired command code or assign this
command code to a specific key, which I could then use to teach the
RM-AV3000. Unfortunately there is nothing in the ONEFORALL remote manual
for carrying out this procedure (I purchased model URC-3021), of assigning
specific command codes to specific keys. Does anyone have any suggestions
on how to send this "029" command code using the URC-3021, or how to program
a specific key with this command code. Or is there another brand of remote
that is more suitable for my purposes.

Thanks for your patience and help in advance.

Just guesses:

You have verified that your TV is supposed to have 4 inputs? If it does....

Your TV tuner may be defective. Otherwise, the Input 4 function would be
working. Test this first, using TV's front-panel controls or the TV's original
remote control.

The RM-AV3000 may not be working correctly. Verify that it outputs IR when the
Input 4 command is activated. View the front of the Remote with a camcorder or
digital camera while holding down the "button" ... you should see the IR diode
flashing in the camera's electronic viewfinder.

Just because the RM-AV3000 provides for 4 inputs doesn't mean that all TV
receivers have 4 inputs.

Research these matters before going ballistic trying to program the remote to
do something the TV may not be able to do.

Probably because you bought the cheapest One-for-All. I looked at
the manual; sure enough, it seems to lack the feature in question.
More expensive models do have the feature (I've used it).

Read the independent remote control sites, where hobbyists post some
good info. Use Google - I don't have any URLs handy.

Wait! I found a couple of links - try these for starters:

Thanks for the advice, the remote control group solved my problem right
away. Apparently my model of TV doesn't accept the Video 4 command due to a
bug with certain TV models. Never would have figured out that myself.

Who could have known?
